For Immediate Release The Banff Centre decks the hall with sounds of Holly
Canadian vocalist Holly Cole brings a new twist to holiday standards December 11 at The Banff Centre’s Eric Harvie Theatre. Presented by the Centre’s Playbill series, Cole’s pre-Christmas Canadian tour has become a festive tradition as smooth as spiked eggnog. For more than a decade, Cole has been known as one of this country’s most respected and innovative interpreters of classic and contemporary song. She’s recently released an album of jazz-inflected favourites, a greatest-hits collection called The Holly Cole Collection, Vol. I. It’s classic Cole — a mix of sultry standards and popular tunes with a provocative edge. In 2004, she also won two Junos for Shade, a collection of songs on a loose summer theme. Cole’s career includes seven gold and platinum albums, and a schedule that has her almost contstantly on the road. She’s energized by being in front of a live audience, one of the reasons she continues to tour her holiday-themed concerts across Canada every year, where her soaring concert hall performances elevate her smoky voice and broad vocal range to new heights. Holly Cole — A Night Before Christmas is on Saturday, December 11, at 8 p.m. in the Eric Harvie Theatre, The Banff Centre. Tickets are $31 adult, $28 senior, student, and child, or $26 for Playbill Special holders. Call the Banff Centre Box Office at 762-6301 or 1-800-413-8368. In 2005, The Banff Centre’s Playbill series hosts performances by some of the best in world music, jazz, blues, and dance, including Oscar Lopez, John Hammond, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Eileen Ivers, Habib Koite, Jeff Healey, Montreal Danse, Lester Quitzau, and Harry Manx.
