Karsten Heuer: "Walking the Big Wild"

In June 1998, Karsten Heuer set out on a 3400-kilometre hike
from Yellowstone Park to the Yukon in order to establish whether
an untouched wilderness corridor still exists along the spine of
the Rockies. During his travels, he overcame extraordinary
physical challenges: ferocious storms, avalanches, raging rivers,
and bears that mistook him for dinner. "Walking the Big Wild" is a
story of adventure and a passionate plea for the preservation of
our vanishing mountain wilderness.

Lynn
Hill: "Climbing Free"

In 1994, Lynn Hill succeeded on a climb that no one has been
able to repeat. Her just-released biography, "Climbing Free: My
Life in the Vertical World", co-authored with Greg Child, is the story of her extraordinary free
ascent of El Capitan and of her drive to become one of the world’s
top rock climbers. A favourite with Banff audiences, Hill
took us into the heart of her vertical world. |
