Serac Adventure Films: Adventure is in the DNA of Serac Adventure Films president Michael Brown, who grew up in a family of adventure filmmakers. At an early
age, he learned firsthand about adventure sports and the challenges of production in remote corners of the world. Today, whether caving, climbing, kayaking,
or skiing, Serac's expeditions take them to wild places
— the more difficult to reach, the better. Their mission: to make films that cause people
to think about the wonder and diversity around them. Serac Adventure Films has won numerous awards, including Banff's Best Film on Mountain Sports in 2000.
Featured Film:
Serac always pushes the edge, not just on where to shoot, but how to film. Michael was the first to bring
an HDTV camera to the top
of Mount Everest to document blind climber Erik Weinhenmayer's historic May 2001 ascent and he considers the resulting film, "Farther than the Eye Can See",
among his best work. The extraordinary team spirit, the majestic but brutal presence of the mountain, and the balance of hope and fear are the
messages of this story.
