Silent Snow
The Netherlands, 2007, 13 minutes
Directed by Jan van den Berg
Produced by Ann Andreasen, Sabine Groenewegen, Jacob Gelt Dekker, Henk Sannes
Apart from global warning, there is another threat to the Arctic lingering underneath the surface. Dangerous pesticides from all over the world are being carried to the poles by northbound wind and waves, poisoning animals and people. Silent Snow follows two girls in northern Greenland travelling to a disappearing village where one of them still lives. Against a background of melting ice, they discuss the pollution that is not only dramatically changing their lives, but threatening the entire planet.

Encounters at the End of the World
USA, 2007, 101 minutes
Directed by Werner Herzog
Produced by Henry Kaiser
There is a hidden society at the end of the world. One thousand men and women live together in unbelievably close quarters in Antarctica, risking their lives and sanity in search of cutting-edge science. Now, for the first time, an outsider has been admitted. In his first documentary since Grizzly Man, Werner Herzog, accompanied only by his cameraman, travelled to Antarctica, with rare access to the raw beauty and raw humanity of the ultimate Down Under. Encounters at the End of the World, Herzog’s latest meditation on nature, explores this land of fire, ice and corrosive solitude.
