Wayne Sawchuk's cameras are constant companions on his long journeys through remote wilderness areas. An avid conservationist, Sawchuk was joined by author John Vaillant and photographer Michael Christopher Brown recently on a four-week journey across British Columbia’s Muskwa-Kechika wilderness area – an area that Sawchuk fought long and hard to preserve. Covering 6.4 million hectares and home to the continent's greatest diversity of large mammals, the area’s revolutionary conservation strategy aims to balance resource extraction and tourism with protecting its environmental and wilderness values.

Sawchuck's photos reflect his broad diversity of wildlife and wilderness subjects, and have been widely published in Canadian Geographic, Beautiful BC, The National Post, Explore Magazine and BC Oudoors, among others.
