 Bernard Amy
Bernard Amy was born in Lebanon in 1940. As a scientific
researcher living and working in France, he is involved in
artificial intelligence and cognitive sciences. An alpinist and
traveller, he has visited most of the mountain ranges in the
world. He is a contributing writer to mountain magazines in both
North America and Europe and is the author of several books. Amy
is one of the founders of Passage, a French mountaineering
literary magazine. A former president of the French branch of
Mountain Wilderness International Association, at present he
chairs the Observatoire de l’Alpinisme, a national committee
involved in the defense of alpinism. In his latest book, Le
voyage à la cime, he illustrates how alpinism, writing and
scientific studies are just different ways of travelling —
different aspects of a single search.
