
Lonnie Dupre
For 15 years, Lonnie Dupre has lived on and off with the Inuit
and travelled 11,800 miles throughout the Arctic regions of the
world by dog team, ski and kayak. He has organized and
participated in seven major Arctic expeditions including a
3000-mile crossing of the Canadian Arctic’s Northwest Passage and
holds kayaking and dog-sledging records in Greenland. Dupre has
authored a book entitled Greenland Expedition – Where Ice Is
Born, and his expeditions have been featured in Readers
Digest, Outside Magazine, Backpacker,
Australian Geographic, Sea Kayaker, Explorers
Journal and World Traveler.
Born in Minnesota in 1961, Dupre is an accomplished outdoor
photographer whose special interests include a continuing study of
traditional Inuit lifestyle and culture. In his spare time he
enjoys woodworking and backcountry skiing in the Quetico /
Boundary Waters wilderness areas of the Minnesota/Canadian border
area.
