Gretel Ehrlich
Gretel Ehrlich has had a long and notable career as an author.
Winner of the Guggenheim Fellowship, the NEA Creative Writing
Fellowship and the Harold B. Vurcell Award, she has written many
books including Solace of Open Spaces, Heart Mountain
and A Match to the Heart. She is currently working on a
travel memoir titled Questions of Heaven.
Ehrlich has been to Greenland nine times since 1993 — because
of her passion for the landscape as much as her keen interest in
Inuit customs and culture. Her latest book, This Cold Heaven:
Seven Seasons in Greenland, eloquently illustrates her
immense knowledge and sympathy for that wild part of the world.
