Dr. Randall Gossen

Dr. Randall Gossen is Vice-president, Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility, for Nexen Inc. in Calgary, and Chairman of the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association. He holds a Ph.D. in soil microbiology from the University of Calgary and has 29 years in the oil and gas industry. He is considered a pioneer in the area of public consultation, community affairs programs and corporate social responsibility and has a deep interest in issues related to environmental and social justice.

Dr. Gossen is Chairman of the Program Committee for the World Petroleum Congress and a member of the Advisory Council to the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Calgary. His interest in environmental initiatives has resulted in his recent participation as Vice-chairman of the Arctic Institute of North America and as Co-chair and Director of the Alberta Ecotrust Foundation.
