Steve House

Steve House is one of the most respected young alpinists in the world today. He combines his rock- and ice-climbing skills with vast mountaineering experience to move extremely fast on alpine and ice routes. Noted climbs include the solo first ascent on Denali’s Beauty Is a Rare Thing, The Gift on Mt. Bradley and a new route on Howse Peak (Canadian Rockies) called M-16, which Steve climbed with Barry Blanchard in spring 1999. In addition to being a top-level alpinist, Steve focuses his energies on creating cleaner, faster ways to climb at high altitude. He is one of only 14 Americans to be internationally certified as UIAGM Mountain Guides.
