BANFF MOUNTAIN PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION CALL FOR ENTRIES

Get your camera ready, because the deadline for the 8^th annual Banff Mountain Photography Competition is fast approaching. Winning images will be featured at exhibitions across North America. Over $8,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

Entries must be received at the competition office in Banff no later than May 30, 2003. Amateur and professional photographers alike are invited to submit 35mm slides and/or prints (minimum size 8"x10", maximum size of 11"x14").

The following prizes will be awarded:
Grand Prize: $1000 cash, and prizes from our sponsors, will be awarded to the photographer with the best overall photograph, regardless of category.

Category Prizes: $500 cash, and prizes from our sponsors, will be awarded to the winner in each of the following categories: Mountain Adventure; Mountain Landscape; Mountain Culture; Mountain Flora and Fauna; and Mountain Environment.

The winning photographs will be exhibited during the Banff Mountain Festivals, November 5–9, 2003, will remain on exhibition for 12 months as part of The Banff Centre's permanent collection, and will tour to a number of locations in North America and abroad. Winning photos will also be featured on the Mountain Culture Web site, www.banffmountainfestivals.ca

The 2003 Banff Mountain Photography Competition is presented by National Geographic and Dunham Bootmakers, and sponsored by Chevy Avalanche.

Winning photographs from the 2002 competition will tour to the following North American locations during the next six months: Montreal, Denver, Berkley, San Francisco and Portland.
