Wilfried Haeberli

Wilfried Haeberli is an environmental geoscientist specializing in
research about snow and ice in high mountain areas. He has a PhD
in geography from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and is now
professor and faculty member at the University of Zurich. He has
directed the World Glacier Monitoring Service since 1986, and has
been vice-president of the International Permafrost Association
since 1998. The focus of his activity is on climate-related
glacier and permafrost monitoring at a global scale and on hazards
related to glacier and permafrost changes at regional to local
scales (Europe, South America).
