Ian R. Pengelly

Ian has worked as a park warden with Parks Canada since 1976. After working in Pacific Rim and Glacier National Parks, he moved to Banff National Park in 1980. Since 1990, he has supervised the park fire and vegetation management program. His duties include planning and implementing fuels management and prescribed fires, and controlling wildfires and mountain pine beetles. In 2003, these tasks became very closely related during the Fairholme prescribed burn. Ian enjoys skiing, riding and hiking in the backcountry with his friends and family. He received a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Calgary in 1994.
