Hermann Erber: Illuminati

Hermann Erber: Illuminati

“When Albert Leichtfried called me, he was so excited about the new line he had found in the Dolomites. He told me, “Hermann, it’s the craziest line you have ever seen and the view is perfect.” We walked up through a small gully under the ice curtain. It was so amazing — the overhanging rock with the big curtain of ice far up in the sunlight. When Albert started to climb the first two pitches, I was impressed by how difficult it was on the rock (M11+), but my attention was drawn to the curtain. After the rock section, Albert stepped onto the curtain and it seemed so unreal. All this time, I stood on the ground in a light shirt; it was so comfortable, like being in a theatre, watching a film. ”

Austrian Hermann Erber has been a freelance photographer since 2002. He specializes in alpinism, mountain sports and the tourism industry. A passionate all-round climber, his work takes him to remote regions around the world. His images are published in international magazines, calendars, catalogues and websites. “My work reflects my personal approach to outdoor activities and travelling.”
