Darwin Wiggett: Trash along the Yellowhead Highway
“While photographing sunrise along the Yellowhead Highway in Jasper National Park, I was struck by how much garbage was littering the ditch. I found it unbelievable that people in passing vehicles would actually toss out their trash — especially in a national park! I wanted to juxtapose the beauty of Jasper with the ugliness of the consumer waste and disregard. I composed an image with a wide-angle lens to emphasize the trash in the foreground in the context of the background beauty.”
Darwin Wiggett has been photographing the Canadian landscape for over 20 years and has been published worldwide in calendars, books and magazines. Darwin is author and photographer of 11 pictorial books covering Canadian landscapes and dogs as topics.
