Dorothee Richter is a curator, art historian and author. She was curator of female coalities, an international project with lectures and exhibitions by Ute Meta Bauer, Eva Meyer, Alison Knowles, Marion von Osten, Valie Export, and others (1996, Bremen). She was curator with Barnaby Drabble of an international curators' symposium on art as intervention, art and social critique, and art as service, called "Curating Degree Zero." This symposium was held in Bremen in 1998, and was published by the Verlag fuer moderne Kunst, Nuremberg. Richter was the curator of "Dialoge und Debatten, Dialogues and Debates," an international symposium on feminist positions in contemporary visual arts in 1999, the results of which were also published by the Verlag fuer moderne Kunst, Nuremberg. Richter lectured at the University of Bremen, Germany, from 1998 to 1999. Since 1999, she has been artistic director of the KuenstlerHaus in Bremen and doing research on Fluxus. In January 2003, there will be a follow up to the symposium on critical curating in Basel, Switzerland, "Curating Degree Zero/ 2," which will be curated by Dorothee Richter and Barnaby Drabble.
