Abigail Solomon-Godeau is an art and photography critic, an occasional curator and an art historian specializing in nineteenth-century French art. She is currently a visiting professor in the department of art history at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her essays have appeared in such periodicals as Afterimage, Art in America, Camera Obscura, October and Screen Education. A book of her selected essays, Photography at the Dock: Essays on Photographic History, Institutions and Practices, was printed in 1991 by the University of Minnesota Press. She is currently completing a book entitled The Image of Desire: Sexuality, Femininity and Photography in Nineteenth-Century France. Contributor to: |
