Aritha van Herk's award-winning novels and essays have been praised throughout North America and Europe. Her first novel, Judith (McClelland & Stewart 1978), received the prestigious Seal First Novel Award and her third novel, No Fixed Address (McClelland & Stewart 1986), earned a Governor General's Literary Award nomination and the Writers Guild of Alberta Howard O'Hagan Award for Short Fiction. Her other books include The Tent Peg (McClelland & Stewart 1981), Places Far from Ellesmere (Red Deer 1990), and Restlessness (Red Deer 1998).
