Made in Banf

Made in Banff, an exhibition from the permanent collection of the Walter Phillips Gallery, brings together for the first time various artworks that were created here.

For the past six decades the Banff Centre for the Arts has provided a place for artists to create, explore and produce new work in a locale that has long served as a catalyst for commentary on commercialism, the environment, nature and tourism.

Made in Banff
features works by 13 artists who have participated in various programs at the Centre for the Arts and thus documents the history of the Centre and its place in the development of visual culture.

Among the wide range of artworks, the exhibition includes ceramics, paintings, prints, mixed media, photographs, and video by Canadian and international artists, including:

  • Iain Baxter
  • Mariko Paterson
  • Greg Curnoe
  • Jin-me Yoon
  • Takao Tanabe
  • Patricia Deadman
  • Katherine Knight
  • Jochen Gerz
  • Stephen Hutchings

as well as video presentations by:

  • Sara Diamond
  • Meena Nanji
  • Richard Fung
  • Rodrigue Jean
