John Vaillant has written for the New Yorker, The Atlantic, National Geographic - Adventure, Outside, and Men's Journal. His 2005 Governor General Award winning book for non-fiction, The Golden Spruce, was a finalist for the 2006 Kiriyama Prize and won the Writers'Trust Non-Fiction Award.
