Tonight’s performance brings together the “beautiful, blooming tone and magnetic stage presence” (San Francisco Chronicle) of baritone Philippe Sly with JUNO-nominated pianist Michael McMahon in Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad, Schumann’s Dichterliebe and the poetry of Heinrich Heine.

The Musical Encounter series is an opportunity for exploration between our visiting artists and the participants of our residency programs. Each performance is curated/hosted by our visiting artist as they introduce us to their creative world and give a glimpse into their residency.

Banff Musicians in Residence is a Banff Centre program that provides emerging and established artists the time, space and support to concentrate on their artistic development.
