Winner of the Queer Palm and Best Screenplay at Cannes, Portrait of a Lady on Fire tells the story of Marianne, an artist who has received a mysterious commission to paint a young woman’s portrait under the guise of being her walking companion. Directed by Céline Sciamma, this 18th-century intimate love story speaks to the power of the gaze.
