Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and Alberta Media Production Industries Association announce Story Summit 2018

Story Summit 2018 to address story, technology, diversity, and inclusion in the ever changing eco-system of content and media and entertainment

BANFF, AB, December 5, 2017 – Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and the Alberta Media Production Industries Associations (AMPIA) are proud to announce the third annual Story Summit on March 9, 10, and 11, 2018 hosted at Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta, Canada. 

Story Summit is a premier gathering for North American digital content creators, filmmakers, producers, and directors. The Summit encompasses a full day of workshops in addition to keynotes and panel discussions. Topics include monetization and globalization of content, diversity and inclusion in the media and entertainment industry, with ample hands-on workshops crafted to sharpen both the technical and creative skills needed to stay relevant and in the game. 

This year, Story Summit presents keynote speaker Jon Giegengack, Founder and Principal, Hub Entertainment Research. With 20 years of experience in research for entertainment and technology clients, Giegengack is an expert in what drives consumer decisions in an environment where providers, content sources, and devices. His keynote discussion will cut through the clutter and outline what is being watched, when, and on what platform…and the surprising trends that are leading the way for opportunity in the media and entertainment industry.

Last year’s Summit featured speakers Stephen Campanelli, SOC; Fabian Wagner, BSC, Cinematographer; Sean Savage, Assoc BSC, ACO, SOC, Camera Operator; and, many more.

The enormous sense of satisfaction I experienced whilst giving workshops and keynote speeches to both young and up and coming film makers is something I will not forget.
