Shad and Holy Fuck awarded first ever Banff-Polaris Residency

Banff, Alberta, May 29, 2014 -- The Banff Centre and Polaris Music Prize proudly announce Shad and Holy Fuck as the inaugural recipients of the Banff-Polaris Residency. The Banff-Polaris Residency is a creative residency awarded to two artists previously shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. As recipients, these artists will collaborate during a creative residency this summer at The Banff Centre in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. At the end of the residency, a limited edition pressing of the recorded collaboration will be on 500 7” vinyl records.

The artists were jointly chosen by The Banff Centre and Polaris Music Prize. As recipients, Shad and Holy Fuck will participate in a creative residency at The Banff Centre with access to everything needed to facilitate the creative process. Included in this residency is access to The Banff Centre's many interdisciplinary facilities, studio time and producers, a film shoot, equipment and technical support, artist accommodation, and meals.

“We’re delighted to welcome Shad and Holy Fuck to The Banff Centre,” said Carolyn Warren, Vice President, arts at The Banff Centre. “It’s our hope that in this highly creative and supportive environment these talented individuals will thrive and I look forward to hearing the results of their time here.”

Together with A Tribe Called Red, Shad and Holy Fuck will also kick-start the Banff Summer Arts Festival with a special Canada Day Concert hosted by Steve Jordan, Executive Director and Founder of the Polaris Music Prize.

“The Banff Centre is a dream home for creative spirits of all disciplines,” said Steve Jordan, Director and Founder, Polaris Music Prize. “We have pined to facilitate a collaboration with Short List alumni for years and are honoured that this perfect venue is partnering with us to make this dream a reality. We are hopeful that this becomes an annual tradition.”

A special documentary of the project will also be produced in collaboration with the Banff Centre and Aux.tv.
