Programme de bourses en arts visuels de Banff — Automne 2020
Information sur le programme
Program Overview
The Banff Visual Artist Fellowship Program helps established artists focus on developing their work. This program allows participants to carry out self-directed research over a period of 12 weeks, in the creatively and intellectually stimulating environment of the Banff Centre's visual arts department. Participants will be chosen by an international jury to participate in this exceptional program fully covered by a scholarship.
In addition to focusing on their work, participants will be able to interact with each other and with artists in residence from the visual arts programs. They will be able to expand their network and field of research, visit studios, have open studio hours, participate in reading groups, share their knowledge by presenting their work in progress, and interact with staff specializing in arts and curated at the Banff Arts Centre. The Banff International Conservation Institute (Fellowship Program) coincides with the Banff Visual Arts Fellowship Program, and we strongly encourage participants from both programs to collaborate closely.
During this residency, participants can focus on research work or a studio work approach resulting from the continuation of the realization of an existing project or the development of a new large-scale project, or even create works for a confirmed external exhibition. Candidates whose projects are current, socially relevant and of great artistic merit will be considered, as will candidates willing to give their time to act as mentors to members of the artistic community. .
What does the program offer?
This program allows artists to devote a lot of time to their work or to pursuing research. The schedule of planned activities is light to allow them to concentrate on their self-directed project and on collaboration opportunities.
Participants will be able to attend lectures and presentations by faculty members and visiting artists from visual arts residency programs and the Walter Phillips Gallery, and will be able to expand their network by connecting with artists from the four corners of the world.
Participants will have access to a private studio 24 hours a day to carry out their work.
What lengths of residency are offered?
This program requires a full-time commitment with the understanding that absences will be minimal. Alternative dates cannot be considered.
Who is the program for?
This program is aimed at intermediate or advanced artists doing studio work or research in the visual arts. Applicants must have exhibition or publication experience, have received structured post-secondary training in visual arts — or have equivalent experience, in addition to being recognized by their peers.
