Overview
Surrounded by Banff’s majestic mountain landscape, this 20-day residency provides songwriters an opportunity to explore their artistic practice alongside award-winning faculty. The Banff International Songwriter Residency delves deeply into the entire process of songwriting through various methodologies.

What does the program offer?
The Banff International Songwriter Residency offers one-on-one sessions and group workshops with faculty, performance opportunities, and recording sessions in a state-of-the-art recording facility.
A personal studio space to work from is provided and available 24 hours a day. Production spaces are shared among all participants in the residency.
Scholarship is available of up to 100% to cover tuition.
Who should apply?
Open to applicants worldwide regardless of genre, this residency is a call for songwriters who have an established professional practice, be it in pop, folk, country, soul, or hip-hop. Artists should have produced an independent body of work and received recognition through public presentation in performance or recordings, as well as from their peers.
"The time I spent at Banff Centre with The Barr Brothers was more rewarding than I could have imagined. The location was therapeutic. The creative experimentation imbued in the atmosphere there is very real, and contagious. Working in their facility was relaxed yet professional. We left with a handful of unique sounding recordings.” Brad Barr, The Barr Brothers
