Program Information

Overview

The Banff Centre is a recognized leader on the international chamber music scene. Many quartets that have competed in the Banff International String Quartet Competition have trained in our program. This year's faculty includes artistic director Barry Shiffman, violinist Mark Steinberg, violist Hsin-Yun Huang, cellist Richard Lester, and pianist Robert McDonald.

What does the program offer?

Each ensemble invited to participate will enjoy numerous private coaching sessions, masterclasses and performance opportunities. The resources of The Banff Centre, from the exquisite pianos, magnificent Rolston Recital Hall, and exceptional recording facilities make this program one of our most popular offerings.

Who should apply?

Limited to 40 participants, the residency is for pre-formed ensembles and is focused on chamber music for strings and piano, however ensembles that include instruments such as winds or percussion will be considered on a space available basis.
