What type of pools do you have?

We have a 25 metre lane pool, a hot tub, and wading pool out on the swim deck. There are also steam rooms located in each locker room.

Is there a lifeguard on duty at all times? Can I still swim if there is no lifeguard on duty?

A lifeguard is only on duty during public swim hours. You are still able to swim during other hours - swimmers under 16 years of age must be supervised by a responsible adult if you are swimming outside of public swim hours.

What are the temperatures of your pools?

Our 25 metre pool is generally at 28C (82F). Our wading pool is at 34C (93F). Our hot tub is at 40C (104F).

Do you sell swim diapers? At what age are swim diapers required to be worn in the pools?

Swim diapers can be purchased at the Recreation Desk for $2 per diaper. We require all children up to 36 months to wear a swim diaper when they are in any of the pools.

Do you have life jackets available?

Yes, we have lifejackets for children and adults. There is no charge for using the lifejackets and they can be picked up on the pool deck. Please ask us for assistance if you need help finding the proper size or putting them on.

Are there lanes available all the time or only during specific hours?

We have at least one lane available every hour unless there is a pool booking or the pool toy is in. Please call us in advance and we can tell you if the time you are planning on coming has a lane for you.

Can my child swim before or after their swim lesson?

You and your child are welcome to swim before or after lessons if you pay the Program Partnership fee. The cost is $4.00 for children 0-15 and $5.00 for Adults.

How are the pools kept clean?

We maintain our pools by using chlorine as a disinfectant. The Wade pool is drained and cleaned once a month, the Whirl pool is drained and cleaned once every two weeks, and the 25 metre pool is backwashed once every two weeks.

Can my child come to public swim alone?

Children 8 years and over are welcome to come to Sally Borden Fitness & Recreation for public swim without adult supervision.

How old do you have to be to attend member swim unsupervised?

People aged 16 and over are welcome to go swimming without adult supervision during member swim.

Do I have to get in the water with my child?

All children under the age of 4 years require a guardian to be in the water with them within arms’ reach. Children between the ages of 5 - 8 years must pass a swim test to be in the water alone but still require adult supervision from the side of the pool.

Are there lockers in the changing rooms? Do I need to bring my own lock for them?

There are lockers in each of the changing rooms. We have half and full lockers. You can bring your own lock or rent a lock from us for $1 per lock.

Can I rent a towel from you?

Yes, towel rentals are $2 each and can be purchased at the Recreation Desk.
