Looking Back: Indigenous Arts at Banff Centre

Conceived and directed by Sadie Buck and Alejandro Ronceria, Bones: An Aboriginal Dance Opera officially debuted in 2001 in our Margaret Greenham Theatre. The project was developed and refined over a series of programs hosted by Indigenous Arts from 1999 to 2001.

Described as a deeply spiritual work, Bones “begins with the Earth Chant as life and knowledge transfer from Earth to the human body. The singers and dancers explore the people’s journey on this Earth, the return of our bones to the Earth, and the return of our Spirits to the Stars.”
