John Glenday

John Glenday was born in Monifieth, Scotland in 1952. He attended the University of Edinburgh, where he studied literature and language for three years before transferring to a psychiatric nursing program. He worked as a psychiatric nurse in Dundee for 12 years. In 1990-91, Glenday was appointed the Scottish/Canadian Exchange Fellow and was based at the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
Glenday is the author of two collections: The Apple Ghost, which won a Scottish Arts Council Book Award, and Undark, which was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. His poems have been anthologised in the Faber Book of Twentieth Century Scottish Poetry, The Firebox, and New British Poetry. His newest publication, Grain, has already been lauded as “lyrically delicate and emotionally powerful”.
