The Digital Film & Media Production Work Study programs are designed to expand and upgrade the skills of creative technicians and other arts-related personnel. The goal of the program is to increase our participants’ technical and aesthetic expertise in media production and enable them to export that knowledge back to their professional communities.

Projects produced by The Banff Centre’s Digital Film & Media Production Department are generated with the participation of various departments within The Banff Centre including Digital Film, Aboriginal Arts, Music & Sound, Banff New Media Institute, Visual Arts, Theatre Arts, and Mountain Culture. Work study participants collaborate with artists in these programs, and cooperative creative ventures are encouraged. The Digital Film & Media Production Department also produces works for commercial clients whose projects fall within the mandate of The Banff Centre’s mission. This provides participants with exposure to a variety of projects, as well as the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients including visiting filmmakers, artists, researchers, and faculty.

Work study participants serve as assistants to more experienced staff and visiting faculty or experts in their field of production. Working within this team environment, participants are guided and evaluated by experienced mentors on a regular basis. The Digital Film & Media Production Department operates from the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Building.

All programs, faculty, dates, fees, and offers of financial assistance are subject to change. Non-refundable fees and deposits will be retained upon cancellation. Any other fees are refunded at the discretion of The Banff Centre.
