Professional Training Programs

Engage in dynamic experiential learning and practical experience

Professional Training Programs

Unlock your creative career

Banff Centre's Professional Training Programs (PTP) are tuition-based training programs where participants apply, undergo adjudication, and are accepted as full participants within their related arts program.

These career-focused programs are tailored for individuals entering technical and production-based creative fields, offering emerging practitioners a dynamic blend of structured skills development and hands-on experimentation. PTP's provide a rich combination of experiential learning and applied practical experience, fully integrating participants into Banff Centre’s vibrant artistic ecosystem and uniting performance and technical artforms together.

Under the guidance of expert faculty and Banff Centre staff, PTP participants receive close, often one-on-one mentorship, supervision, and tailored instruction. Learning objectives are seamlessly tied into the artistic residency programs, fostering exciting opportunities for collaboration, connection and networking within these applied-learning experiences.

Professional Training Programs span three to six weeks and are deeply embedded in Banff Centre’s programming and events. Upon completion, participants are equipped with increased confidence, valuable experience, and enhanced competency in their core skill areas, preparing them to enter the creative industries with a competitive edge.

The Banff Centre Audio Program was one of the best learning experiences I have had. The quality of musicians is unmatched and the facilities to work in are some of the best in. Living and working in the mountains is an absolute privilege and I know this will be an experience I won't forget.

We recognize, with deep respect and gratitude, our home on the side of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain. In the spirit of respect and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Banff area, known as “Minihrpa” (translated in Stoney Nakoda as “the waterfalls”) and the Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) – comprised of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney Nations – as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Shuswap Nations, Ktunaxa Nations, and Metis Nation of Alberta, Rockyview District 4. We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play here, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.
