The Visual Arts Lecture Series presents talks by leading Canadian and international artists, curators, and academics.

Join Michael Turner, acclaimed author, art critic, songwriter, musician, poet, and faculty for the Visual Arts Thematic Residency – Get LIT! Language, Image, Text for an afternoon talk.

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, on unceded Coast Salish territory, Turner’s practice is broad. The author of numerous literary works including Company Town (1991), Hard Core Logo (1993), Kingsway (1995), The Pornographer’s Poem (1999), 8x10 (2009) and 9x11 and other poems like Bird, Nine, x and Eleven (2018), Turner’s critical writing has appeared in Art Papers, Art on Paper, Canadian Art, Duchamp’s Socks, Modern Painters as well as exhibition catalogues on artists Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller, Brian Jungen, Ken Lum, among others. Turner’s collaborations include screenplays with Stan Douglas, poems with Geoffrey Farmer and songs with cub, Dream Warriors, Fishbone and Kinnie Starr. Playlist: a Profligacy of Your Least-Expected Poems will appear in Fall 2024.
