COVID-19 Measures: Banff Centre has suspended all scheduled programs on campus until the end of August. We will not be accepting applications during this time.

Program offerings are being reviewed, check out some of our program pages for a sample of what you might see at Banff Centre soon. Please visit our COVID-19 Update Page or reach out to registrars_office@banffcentre.ca for more information.

Banff Centre’s Literary Arts programs provide an inspiring space and focused time for emerging and established writers to push the boundaries of their talent and realize their potential. Our programs prepare writers in all genres for literary success on a national and international scale.

Since the first summer playwriting program was offered in 1937, Banff Centre has provided writers with exceptional opportunities for artistic development within a community of supportive peers. Today, our year-round roster of intensive thematic residencies involves many of Canada’s most celebrated writers.

Banff Centre is a spectacular setting and exceptionally nurturing environment for creative work. The program was strong, with knowledgeable and committed staff.
