Please join us for the Spring Banff Artist in Residence 2024 Open Studios and a tour at Walter Phillips Gallery in conjunction with our current exhibition, Cassils: Movement, curated by Jacqueline Bell and Carol A. Stakenas.
Meet the Spring BAiR artists in residence and discover how they pushed the boundaries of their work over five weeks at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Explore their studios at your leisure and engage in conversations with contemporary artists from across the globe.
At 5 p.m., join us for a tour of the solo exhibition, Movement by widely acclaimed artist Cassils. Movement exists in the interstices of performance, photography, sound and light. The title references the sequential stages of a musical score, as well as social, political, physiological and somatic movements. This exhibition includes a series of new works that translate Human Measure (2021-ongoing), Cassils’ first contemporary dance, into a visceral, immersive, visual and sonic installation.
Whether you are an artist, art appreciator, or a curious first-time viewer, all are encouraged to attend.
