How do I get to Banff Centre?

Most attendees fly into Calgary (YYC), followed by a two-hour shuttle to Banff. If you’re taking Banff Airporter, use code BISQC2025 for 15% off. The shuttle desk is located between doors 5 & 6 at Arrivals, area C.

When should I arrive and check in?

While room check-in at the Professional Development Centre (PDC) Front Desk begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, BISQC package welcome materials (name badge with seating info, competition program guide, shuttle schedule and more) will be available from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the PDC lobby.  Early arrivals can store luggage with the concierge. Weekend arrival timing is similar. For any guests arriving late, you can also collect your BISQC welcome materials in the Jenny Belzberg Theatre (JBT) lobby starting 30 minutes prior to any concert.

If you expect to arrive after those times and would like your name badge left at the front desk so you can access breakfast the next morning, please email bisqc@banffcentre.ca in advance.

What’s included in the meal plan?

Audience packages include meals at Vistas Dining Room (breakfast, lunch, dinner, except Wednesday lunch). Your name badge is your dining pass. Maclab Bistro is open to everyone, but not included in the plan.

What should I pack?

Layers are key. Banff’s weather is variable: bring warm and waterproof clothing, casual and concert attire (formal wear optional), comfortable shoes, and a water bottle. A swimsuit, flashlight, and workout clothes may also be useful.

Are there events beyond the concerts?

Yes. Daily lectures, masterclasses, and social events are planned. Highlights include a variety of lectures and the Viennese Waltz Night on Friday, August 29.

Can I use Banff Centre facilities?

On-site guests receive complimentary access to the Sally Borden Recreation Centre (gym, pool, climbing wall). Off-site guests can purchase a day pass.

What should I know about the environment?

Banff sits at 1,400m elevation, so hydrate well! Wildlife is common, especially elk - always maintain a safe distance. Weather changes quickly, so come prepared.

Can audience members practice and play music?

Yes. Two well-equipped music huts on campus are reserved for audience use and provide a quiet, inspiring space to practice. If you’d like to use one, visit the BISQC information desk in the Jenny Belzberg Theatre (JBT) for access details.

In addition, audience members are warmly invited to join informal music-making sessions. These often take place in the Maclab Bistro in the evenings (4:00–11:00 p.m.), where members of the Youth Chamber Music Program and fellow audience members are welcome to jam together. Bring your instrument and don’t be shy - it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect through music.
