Esterhazy String Quartet Festival

Dear String Quartet Lovers,

As announced during BISQC 2022, the Esterhazy Foundation will launch a new string quartet festival in Spring 2023. You are heartily invited to come to Eisenstadt and see the birthplace of string quartet, the place where Joseph Haydn lived and worked for nearly 40 years. In the historical Esterhazy Palace we will present two master quartets and three young award winners including the Isisdore String Quartet, BISQC 2022 winners. For visitors coming as a group from North America, special extras will include access to a masterclass for the young quartets given by the Quartetto di Cremona, a public discussion about the “future of string quartet” with experts Barry Shiffman from BISQC, Banff and John Gilhooly from the Wigmore Hall, London. All guided tours around the Esterhazy heritage will be offered in English as well. Join us and explore the region Burgenland region, known not only for its rich culture, but also its many culinary qualities.

Sincerely yours,

Andreas Richter, Artistic Director Classic.Esterhazy
