Join August Klintberg, faculty for the Visual Arts Thematic Residency – Get LIT! Language, Image, Text and highly acclaimed artist and Associate Professor in the School of Critical and Creative Studies at the Alberta University of the Arts, for an afternoon talk.
Working in the field of art history and visual arts, August Klintberg (he/him, formerly Mark Clintberg), teaches studio, research methodologies and art history at AUArts and is represented by Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain (Montreal).
Most notable for his iconic public artwork, Meet me in the woods (2010), commissioned by The Banff Centre and The Alberta Foundation for the Arts and located on campus, the two powder coated aluminum wayfinding signs have become synonymous with Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and exemplify Klintberg’s practice that examines archives, architectures, and antecedent artworks with a focus on queer histories, identities, and futures.
