Family Philanthropy Retreat with Dexterity Consulting

Be part of an inspirational, eye-opening weekend for families exploring areas of social change, philanthropy, and family legacy. The Family Philanthropy Retreat is a workshop to support strategic philanthropy within families and family foundations. A custom program led by Dexterity Consulting and co-facilitated by the Banff Centre's Leadership Programs in partnership Simply More, Open to Possibilities, and Raymond James.

The purpose of this workshop is to engage individuals, families, and family businesses in strategic conversations around philanthropy and social impact investing. The sessions have a focus on rural communities of Alberta and Saskatchewan, where a majority of the wealth transfers are happening in Canada.  Themes include: vision for giving, why we give, context and money messages, legacy, social visioning, business of philanthropy, meaningful giving, and creating your philanthropy plan and giving profile. In the two-day session, participants will leave with a fully executable charitable giving plan, as well as next steps for engaging their children and/or grandchildren.

Dexterity Consulting is a non-profit management consulting and philanthropic brokerage firm providing services to donors and their advisors, as well as charities in order to drive meaningful social change in their communities. Dexterity Ventures periodically hosts events, conversations and workshops on topics relevant to social enterprise, social impact investing, and strategic and venture philanthropy for our wealth and legal advisors and their clients (families, individuals and family owned businesses).

Social entrepreneur Gena Rotstein, founder of Dexterity Consulting, explores the opportunities and challenges of "Philanthropy 3.0” in a TedX Calgary talk.
