The Peter Lougheed Leadership College officially launched in Banff with an orientation for teachers, fellows, faculty and its first cohort of scholars. Throughout the multi-day program, undergrad students were introduced to leadership approaches offered at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity that allow them to meaningfully engage with one another.

Part of the broader Peter Lougheed Leadership Initiative, a partnership between the University of Alberta and Banff Centre, the  U of A's Peter Lougheed Leadership College is a broad, inclusive undergraduate leadership development program that forges leaders through formal and co-curricular learning, engagement, and mentorship.

Programming in the college promotes lively interaction among students, the college’s founding principal The Right Honourable Kim Campbell, U of A faculty leaders, distinguished visiting scholars, and global leaders—all united by a desire to influence and inspire positive change in themselves and others.

Through study and practice that ranges from leadership lectures to immersive learning experiences, students will gain the skills and knowledge to become leaders who are motivated by and act upon a compelling vision; use critical thinking skills based on sound evidence; act on values that are firmly based on ethical and social responsibility; understand diverse perspectives; and are innovative, respecting the past but focusing on the future.
