Step into an evening of literary exploration at Literary Cabaret, part of the Deep Winter Writers Residency at Banff Centre. This opening chapter features readings of original works by emerging and established writers working across genres.
Faculty mentor Nasser Hussain, author of SKY WRI TEI NGS and love language, will host the evening and share from their acclaimed work.
Enjoy a drink from the bar, browse a curated selection of books from Pages Books, and settle into the warm, creative atmosphere of CLVB’33. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., with readings beginning at 7:00 p.m. Stay after to mingle with writers and faculty until 9:30 p.m.

Nasser Hussain
NASSER HUSSAIN lives in Leeds and teaches Creative Writing at Leeds Beckett University, where he is constantly astonished by the work his students produce. He has written reviews for Poetry London, Ambit, and the Poetry School, and has appeared on BBC’s The Verb and Free Thinking. His most recent book is SKY WRI TEI NGS, published with Toronto’s Coach House Books in late 2018, which is a constraint-based collection in which every word is an IATA airport code. His second book with Coach House, love language, was released in the Autumn of 2023. He is currently working on a number of new projects, including an extended piece of asemic visual poems about punctuation.
