Henry George Glyde is widely recognized for his landscape painting, figure murals, and extensive contributions to developing the arts in Western Canada. Glyde served as the Head of our Painting Division from 1937 to 1966 while providing firsthand instruction for hundreds of students.
Glyde is featured here instructing Art 240, a course that offered a general covering of the elementary theory and practice of drawing through the study of line, form, pattern, light and shade, portrait, and figure construction. It was filmed as part of the segment from Campus in the Clouds produced by CBC’s Camera Canada television series in 1961.
Henry George Glyde passed away in Victoria, BC, on March 31, 1998.
