The Family Winter Arts Festival is where the young and young-at-heart can journey into a world of art and imagination with FREE live shows and interactive activities.

The Festival features performances including live music with Trundled, featuring singer/songwriters Ellen Braun and Joe Shea and Discover: Life as a Dancer - Open Talk.

FREE Shows and Activities (Ticketed: Register in Advance)

  • Songwriting Workshop with Ellen Braun (Register in advance) 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m.
    (Both are now full) 

  • Family Beading (Register in advance) 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.  (FULL)

  • Live Music! Trundled with Ellen Braun and Joe Shea (Register for free tickets in advance) 1 p.m.

  • Discover: Life as a Dancer - Open Talk (Register for free tickets in advance) 7 p.m.

FREE Activities (Drop-In)

  • Family Friendly Film Screenings: Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival 10:30 a.m.

  • Parks Canada Presents: A Beary, Berry Good Day, Puppet Show 11:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.

  • Parks Canada Presents: "How to Draw Banff's Wildlife" with artists from Parks Canada 12 p.m. & 3 p.m.

  • Me on the Map: Design your perfect town. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Walter Phillips Gallery: darkness is as deep as the darkness is. 12:30 - 5 p.m.

FREE public swim on Family Day at Sally Borden Building (1 - 8 p.m.)

Family Zone: Teddy Bear Picnic in Max Bell Building

Bring your own Teddy Bear and food and relax in the Family Zone with the Teddy Bear Picnic!
Listen to the sounds of nature while cozy and warm in Max Bell Building.

Experience Walter Phillips Gallery’s current exhibition, darkness is as deep as the darkness is by Calgary-based artist Rita McKeough, with options to engage in hands-on activities accessible for all ages.
