Collaboration, Innovation, and Artistic growth

Reimagine traditional and contemporary works

Interplay 2025

Reimagine traditional and contemporary works

This innovative and collaborative residency will provide early-career opera, music and theatre professionals the unique opportunity to be part of a fully produced opera, The Handmaid’s Tale or to workshop new chamber works currently in development.

Join us to be part of the future of opera, chamber orchestra, and chamber music. Together we will reimagine traditional and contemporary works in bold, new ways, helping you shape your artistic vision and advance your career.

Interplay 2025 we invite Opera Singers, Répétiteurs, Chamber musicians, Stage Directors, Stage Managers and Conductors, as well as our newly reimagined Professional Training Programs in Prop Building and Wardrobe design to apply.

This program makes you feel like an artist. The faculty and staff treat you with the utmost respect for your craft, your time and your talent, and they are quick to identify ways in which you can shine beyond what you have been assigned to do during the program. The program also offers so many opportunities to explore the greater world that exists beyond your artistic practice, both to see the cultural legacy and tapestry you are contributing to, but also the power of nature that gives you inspiration and perspective on a daily basis.

We recognize, with deep respect and gratitude, our home on the side of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain. In the spirit of respect and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Banff area, known as “Minihrpa” (translated in Stoney Nakoda as “the waterfalls”) and the Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) – comprised of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney Nations – as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Shuswap Nations, Ktunaxa Nations, and Metis Nation of Alberta, Rockyview District 4. We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play here, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.
